LAKEWOOD ON PARADE WILL BE ON A HIATUS IN 2013
Lakewood on Parade announces that this year’s festival will not be taking place. This is a temporary suspension of the festival with plans to return in 2014.
Lakewood, CO, March 2013 – Since 2009 Lakewood on Parade (LOP) has been “the” local Independence Day festival & celebration for the citizens of Lakewood.
In 2012, one of the main attractions of the event (our fireworks show) was cancelled by local officials due to fire concerns associated with the severe statewide drought. As a result attendance at our event dropped 80% from previous years. This greatly impacted our revenue projections while the cost of conducting the event remained high.
Due to the likelihood of continued drought in our region this summer the potential remains high for our fireworks to be cancelled again. As such, LOP has decided not to have a 2013 event. However, we do plan on being back bigger and stronger in 2014!
LOP will be using 2013 to improve the event and add several new members to its all-volunteer planning committee. It takes a large team and a lot of hours to host an event this size.
LOP is looking to fill several key positions that have recently opened up. These include a sponsorship director, operations director, and volunteer coordinator. Please contact us if you or anyone you know may be interested in filling these positions.
Thank you and look forward to seeing you again in 2014!
